United States Coast Guard Search & Rescue Boat Coxswain
Assistant Engineering Officer U.S. Coast Guard Stations:
Milford Haven & Cape Charles, Yorktown
Honorable Discharge
Following an honorable discharge from the US Coast Guard, I transitioned into the Commercial Fishing industry. I started as engineer and worked my way up to Captain in a matter of 2 years. Over the course of two decades, I dedicated myself to this field, emerging as one of the most well-respected captains in the fleet. Throughout this period, I successfully commanded six different 150' vessels, showcasing my expertise and commitment to excellence in the industry.
Taking some time away from the commercial fishing industry, I began working for Polaris Imaging where I worked closely with the owner on several research expeditions. My duties included: Master of Vessel on several U.S. and International Search and Surveys including: Titanic, Estonia, Atocha, and Juno along with the discovery of several wrecks off the coast of Portugal and Peru. Pictured is the One Eagle, that we were onboard for the Estonia Expedition.
I was part of the team that build this gem.
I worked mostly on the engines and electrical systems.
As the fishing liaison for Equinor in the North Atlantic wind farm industry, I played a pivotal role in fostering effective communication and collaboration between Equinor and the local fishing community. With a deep understanding of both industries, I worked to address concerns and ensure a harmonious coexistence. My responsibilities involved facilitating dialogues, negotiating agreements, and implementing strategies that prioritized the sustainability of both fishing practices and wind energy initiatives. By serving as a bridge between these two vital sectors, I contributed to the development of responsible and mutually beneficial practices that support environmental conservation and economic prosperity in the region.
Throughout my tenure in the Gulf of Mexico, I assumed a pivotal role in overseeing the maintenance and operation of a survey vessel. The magnitude of my responsibilities became particularly evident during the inshore oil recovery efforts following the BP Deep Water Horizon oil spill. Our vessel emerged as a linchpin in the intricate machinery of support for the Group One Command Near Shore Oil Recovery Unit. Charged with a mission of paramount importance, we facilitated the logistical backbone, ensuring the seamless flow of supplies and unwavering support crucial to the success of the oil recovery operations. In the face of environmental challenges, our vessel stood resilient, contributing significantly to the collective efforts aimed at mitigating the impact of one of the most significant environmental disasters in recent history.
As a yachting captain with extensive experience navigating the waters of South Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean, my foremost commitment is to ensure the safety of the crew, the owner and the guests on board. With a background as an engineer, I bring invaluable technical expertise to promptly address any unforeseen challenges that may arise at sea. My role extends beyond navigation and driving the boat; I am actively involved in provisioning boats, meticulously organizing excursions, and overseeing all aspects of the yacht's operations. By prioritizing safety, seamless navigation, and the overall well-being of everyone on board, I strive to deliver exceptional and unforgettable yachting experiences in these breathtaking locales.
Being the captain of a Buddy Davis 74' sport fish and a 65' Viking is a maritime privilege that demands a unique blend of skill, experience, and passion. Navigating the sea aboard these impressive vessels requires a deep understanding of maritime navigation, weather patterns, and the intricacies of handling large and powerful fishing boats. The Buddy Davis 74' sport fish, known for its sleek design and top-notch performance, offers a commanding presence on the water, making it a joy to helm. On the other hand, the 65' Viking, with its luxurious amenities and cutting-edge technology, provides a captain with the means to ensure a seamless and enjoyable fishing experience for both crew and guests. Managing a team of skilled sailors, coordinating fishing strategies, and ensuring the safety of all on board are just a few aspects that define the captain's role in this maritime adventure. It's a position that demands leadership, expertise, and a deep connection to the sea
